🎥 1. Does Workways have a video surveillance system?
No.
Workways does not monitor its clients, their guests, or their activities.
The installed system is a security system, not a surveillance system.
Its purpose is the protection of people and property, only in the event of a verified incident (theft, damage, endangerment, etc.).
🔒 2. What is the difference between a security system and a surveillance system?
- A security system operates passively: cameras record continuously, but footage is only reviewed when a serious or abnormal event justifies it, and never for preventive purposes or out of curiosity.
- A surveillance system, on the other hand, would involve real-time monitoring or tracking of individuals, which Workways does not do.
👁️ 3. Who can access the video footage?
A very limited number of employees have access to the footage.
These employees:
- are formally authorised under their employment contract;
- have received specific data protection training;
- have strictly controlled and tracked access (cameras consulted, dates, times, and reasons logged).
🧾 4. Under what conditions can the footage be reviewed?
Recordings can only be reviewed in specific circumstances:
- when a serious or suspicious incident is reported;
- at the request of a competent authority (police, gendarmerie, judiciary);
- and never to directly respond to an internal complaint or simple request for information.
The first rule is therefore: no review without a legitimate reason and formal authorisation.
📋 5. Are the reviews logged?
Yes.
Each review is logged, including:
- the identity of the authorised employee,
- the date and time of access,
- the camera(s) involved,
- the reason for access.
This information is retained to ensure traceability and GDPR compliance.
⚖️ 6. What happens to the results of investigations?
Any outcome of a video review is never directly shared with the complainant.
It is only communicated to the competent authorities if requested within the legal framework.
🧠 7. Does the system comply with GDPR?
Yes.
The system is designed and managed in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):
- Footage is kept only for a limited time, proportionate to the security purpose.
- Access is restricted, justified, and logged.
- Data subjects have the rights of access, information, and correction as provided by law (via contact with Workways’ Data Protection Officer – DPO).
🤝 8. What is Workways’ philosophy on this subject?
The safety of premises and people is essential, but it should never compromise trust or privacy.
Our priority is to provide everyone with a secure, safe, and respectful environment that upholds individual rights.
